Graphite drawing of leopard (3.9.2019)

Here is a black and white graphite drawing of a leopard I drew a while back.

Leopards are perhaps the most beautiful of the African big cats with beautiful rosettes which is perfect camouflage. They usually lurk in dense river bush or around rocky croppings, emerging to hunt late in the afternoon or at night.

The leopard is a graceful animal with an elongated body, relatively short legs and a long tail. After the lion, it is the second largest African cat weighing up to 145 lbs, and standing up to 3 feet tall at the shoulder. Leopards in the wild may live up to 15 years. The leopard is solitary, only coming together for mating. They're very stealth like and hard to detect in the wild.  They do not roar..rather they occasionally emit a call which is cough-like.
They are ambush hunters and are known for dragging their quarry up into a tree out of reach of other predators.

Leopards have unique dark rosettes which are more round in east African Leopards and more square in south African Leopards.

These beautiful big cats are listed as vunerable by IUCN.
